Fishmongers Chippy

Tried this chippy because we needed an easy dinner. Our last fish and chip experience didn’t go too well. The food was absolutely top notch. I would go back again.

Best fish and chips in the area! The food is always fresh, fast, and reasonably priced. Even on busy Fridays, the wait is minimal thanks to excellent staffing. The owner, a passionate Motor Lublin speedway fan, is always smiling and ready for a friendly chat. Portions are generous, with perfectly crispy chips that complement the flaky fish. Don't miss the chicken burger - ask for freshly chopped garlic for an incredible flavor explosion that'll keep you satisfied all day. Look up to spot the well-fed shark suspended from the ceiling - a quirky touch that adds character to this local gem. Whether you're passing through or a local like me, this place is unmissable. Fair warning: the food is seriously addictive!

The best fish and chips I’ve ever had, and I don’t say that lightly - the haddock was so fresh and cooked perfectly with lovely, light batter, and the chips had lots of crispy bits and were also cooked perfectly. Everything tasted so good and I usually avoid fried food, but this was an amazing treat. Such a pleasant surprise, and a lovely couple running the shop on their own. So glad we found this place, and it cheered up my elderly dad who is unwell and unable to eat much, but today he ate well and felt happy. Thank you to the owners.

At the risk of having to queue out the door, my honest opinion is that this is the best Fish & Chip shop in and around the Caterham area. I found this family run business a few years ago after having been served a refried piece of dry cod (tough as old boots) and soggy chips from another shop in Caterham. They take phone orders, food is prepared when you order, you may have to wait a few minutes but it is well worth the wait. The batter is crispy, the fish is flakey and tasty, the chips are deep fried, crispy on the outside and soft inside. Don’t take my word for it check it out yourself you won’t be disappointed. Five stars *****
